Thought I might try selling my hair. I cut it off a few days ago - with the idea of donating it, but since it has a few grey hairs in there maybe I should just try to sell it.
It’s banded in two thick pigtails and is about 12 inches long. Kind of a red brown with some goldishness in it and some natural wave curl. This is fairly thick and not very fine.
Strange starting out as a towhead as a kid then into the sh*t blonde phase then honey blonde and now it is a kind of a “handsome” auburn-red color with smatterings of silver grey coming in. Oh well, maybe someone will have a use for this gob that I chopped off. Figure I might donate 10 percent to a charity then with the rest maybe by a ticket to see the new Star Trek movie and then go grocery shopping.
It’s the sign of the times when women are selling their hair - heck, some are selling their kid’s hair too. These days we all are getting creative and fully going into “bootstrap mode”, eh?
A while back I started helping a few local artist friends put up gallery websites. Lately have been trying my hand at creating some computer generated art of my own.
These were made using a free program call Apophysis 2.0 and another program (not so free) called Paint Shop Pro 6.
Anyway, it’s a lot of fun, but is a time-sucker like all my other projects. Fun is good though, right?
Well, I have been using Twitter using Sitewryte as my username. So far it has been a good way to stay up to date on local stuff like news, job leads, politics and what some friends who use twitter are doing. I have connected with a few others worldwide with same interests like wildlife, ecology, webdesign and so forth. For fun I also “follow” ones like William Shatner, George RR Martin and John Clease!
At first I was not even sure what Twitter was or how it could benefit me in any way…figuring just one more thing to sign up for that eats time, but I found it to be useful and I can log in daily or whenever I want. You can even twitter from your phone if you have texting.
Here’s a video that can tell you more about Twitter, how to get started and how to best use it for personal use or for your business:
Just wondering if anyone has a photo of the mural that used to be on the old store at Agate Bay, Lake Whatcom, Bellingham Wa? This was a pretty neat mural with the lake, a sailboat and a stone stairway. Too bad the new owners just decided to paint over it. Guess they know what they’re doing, but it was a bit of a shock they did that. I noticed we were not the only ones in the neighborhood to be dismayed. Anyway, if anyone has a photo of the mural and could scan and email a copy to me I would love post it somewhere on my site. I would also like to include the artist’s name as well. Any information would be appreciated. e-mail
There’s a bit of history to that old building. Here’s what little I know - it’s not much, but here goes: The place for many years was called The Agate Bay Store, then Agate Bay Gourmet, then Grammy’s, and now it is to be The Fork at Agate Bay. For probably more than 50 years kids have used it as a school bus stop. Most owners allowed the kids to wait right in front where they could come in out of the rain if needed. Other owners chased the kids to the corner down by the trailer park. I remember the first time I shopped at the store. It had a gas station, grocery store and a cafe complete with arcade machine. The chile was the best! I would buy gas for my VW bug there on my way home from work. If you have any fond memories of this old place go ahead and share it here.
Thanks.
Grrr… Admins or teachers of the schools (of Bellingham School District, WA) that my two kids attend did NOT allow them to hear our President’s speech. What the f#@& is going on!!! I can’t believe this! What is wrong with people! Is it an epidemic of “Republicanitis” or is it just mad cow disease?
The speech was wonderful…the best encourangement for our kids to stay in school, do their best, learn all they can and respect their teachers and principals…
…the replies, the excuses I received from both school principals was pathetic.
First the district office said they were leaving it up to the principals, then I contacted each school my kids attend and the principals said they were leaving the decision to the teachers, plus it would conflict with or not fit with curriculum and one also mentioned some parents had called forbidding their kids be allowed to hear our President.
It has been about week since the speech and I am still livid over this! Check this out

President Obama -The Nobel Peace Prize - see on this page: HERE
check out this:
“This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I’d been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.
To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by this prize — men and women who’ve inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.
But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it’s also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.
That is why I’ve said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won’t all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it’s recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.
This award — and the call to action that comes with it — does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.
So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we’ve begun together. I’m grateful that you’ve stood with me thus far, and I’m honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.
Marijke Mill started a unique handbag business. She says: "I make handbags out of potato sacks. They are becoming quite popular… Crystelle Handbags can be used as diaper bags, bookbags or purses for Moms, kids, and teenagers. They make great gifts, souvenirs, and additions to your own personal handbag collection …Of every ten handbags sold, one is donated to the Ronald McDonald House …"
I was impressed by this business owner and the fact that recycling is involved…and using potato sacks..well it just fit to agree to put a link to this on my spud site at Spudpuppy.com. It also reminds me of the fabric my niece recyles for her creations. Her site is here: Amy’s Rag Bag
If anyone else recycles fabric and fibers jet me an email and I would like to try to mention your works here on my little blog. Thanks.
Arghhh! …Here’s my message to T-Mobile (by the way I heard they will be eliminating their “customer service” access by e-mail next spring? If you have poor reception might be fun trying to communicate with them over any issue.):

10-5-09
T-Mobile,
When does my contract expire?
The new bill came and the bogus 3rd party charges were not removed. The statement is still extremely nonsensical and adding tax and line fees per phone then seperately for the package is just plain nasty and I and others I have talked to facing these same issues feel totally scammed by t-mobile. Gads, all this insane itemization and hidden 3rd party crud is enough to drive me up the wall. Our bill should be a constant $–.– each and every month as we do not go over minutes and do not buy other services ever.
That charge you agreed to remove is still on there! If our contract has expired I will be wanting to cancel service. I cannot afford these overcharges and the stress of opening another one of your T-mobile nightmare bills. It is something I no longer wish to endure …so much so I am willing to go phone-less if it comes to that. T-mobile - you need to take a look at these billing practices that so infuriate and turn off your customers!
By the way…I still have to go outside to be able to use my cell phone as well as the others in my family because the coverage-reception is still bad. I am paying for service where I have to put on shoes and go outside in the rain to be able to use it. I should be charging you.
1. Take off the bogus charges and then let me know asap that this is really really really done.
and-
2. Let me know me our contract end date so I can dream of a better future.
Thank you,
Bonnie

update 10-5-09…found voicemail response this afternoon and told to (get on my shoes, go outside) phone them back to discuss. Not sure why they could not reply by email.

Update: 10-10-09 E-mail communication flowing smoothly over past several days and had it all hashed out, with them graciously giving me back credit for the bogus 3rd party overcharges plus more to compensate for the hassle they had caused me. nice!…THEN the very next day (today 10-10-09) we received a text from t-mobile saying we are being billed 54.23 for an upgrade! An upgrade we did NOT order. Arghhhh… the (sentence enhancer here) saga continues.

When spring springs many of us will be considering setting up some sort of garden space. Especially these days, some will be thinking along the lines of “victory gardens”. You know, survival, and possibly making food happen when money doesn’t…
I got to thinking about waay back when my kids were interested in creating fun projects like worm farms in buckets and mini gardens in bottles. These were the early days of kids learning about ecology, recycling and all that is fairly commonplace in our lives these days.
My youngest son, then around 10 (now 29) was in a 4-H club we put together for kids interested in science. He had created his worm farm and fed them table scraps. Then the enriched soil went to the garden and the worms went fishing.
Now a couple weeks ago it got me thinking about, yep…you guessed it, another website! This one focuses on dirt, soil, loam, compost, and…ta da! worm farming! If you’re interested in this sort of thing go ahead and take a look at what I got going so far, then if you have any tips or suggestions that would be appreciated. Here’s the site: uh, never mind. I took this site down, cutting back on domain name registrations and stuff. sorry
You should check out this site where one of my sons works.(Morgan) (update 3-20-11: where he WORKED. They are laying off people…this is the pits!) This local company, Botanical Laboratories, produces, among other healthy things, a product callled Wellesse Vitamin D3 that can help eliminate deficiencies in Vitamin D found in so many people living in the darker colder climates - like where we live in NW Washington.
Since upping my vitamin D intake I feel more energetic, lost a lot of those aches in my legs, there’s been an easing up on my sinus problems and lost some unwanted fat too.
Wellesse Vitamin D3 Liquid
can be mixed with juice or taken by spoon. This stuff tastes really good - mild and not a “taste bud shocker” at all.
You might consider checking with your doctor to find out if you are deficient in vitamin D. Find out about the benefits of taking higher amounts vitamin D because the standard multi vitamin supplement won’t contain enough or the right kind of vitamin d to make much of a difference.
Botanical Laboratories is located in Ferndale Washington: http://botlab.com/
Just found out one of my old school mates from loooooong ago, Linda Coil Suchy, wrote a book called Who’s Watching You? Who’s Watching You - “An Exploration of the Bigfoot Phenomenon in the Pacific Northwest.”
Where we live with deep dark woods and tree covered hills and mountains, and sometimes do experience that “itchy” feeling - you know what I mean, that someone’s there - and when the dog barks, but nothing appears to be there - that feeling that we are not alone … ? Well, I can hardly wait to read this book.
